LONDON FASHION WEEK SS27: GINNY LITSCHER

4.10.26

Arguably one of the best shows I’ve been to during LFW so far… luxury hotel, indoor pool runway party, ice cream… after-party!! That’s very much what it was during Ginny Litscher’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection show…

Hosted at the luxurious Haymarket Hotel in London, the runway was featured on a fabulous poolside, with models descending from left to right in striking designs that would transport you to sailing on a yacht along the Amalfi Coast. It was giving opulent beachwear in the most obvious sense. Italian ethos was running heavily through this collection.

Baroque and Rococo influences fused with Oriental references had made their way onto the runway, from beautifully painted, handcrafted kimono robes and shift/slip dresses coated in sequin embellishments, to tropical-inspired embroidered kaftans, chain-mail skirts, shirts and beach attire, including bikinis and monokinis. Neo-Classical and medallion themes were also running through the collection, with foulards adding to the finishing touches, alongside a new twist: a chain-mail handkerchief halter top.

Rare exceptions included lace and pleated features. Artisan artistry had made its way throughout, with every motif being carefully designed and decorated by Litscher herself.

Silhouettes were easy, loose and free-flowing. Models and celebrities featured on the runway included the likes of ’90s British model Jodie Kidd and TV presenter and personality Laura Whitmore.

It was most certainly a ’90s/Gen X crowd, as other notable faces seen during the show included ’90s legendary supermodel Helena Christensen, ’90s TV presenter/personality Denise Van Outen, presenter Natalie Pinkham, and Olympic champion and legend Denise Lewis, dressed in a Litscher number.

What was even more iconic was that renowned photographer Ellen von Unwerth was there… who’s shot the likes of, well… everybody…

The show ended spectacularly with an ice cream parlour parked just nearby. Clearly, it was a winner, as there was somewhat of a short queue. The only thing I regret was not including the Smarties that were originally on display. However, by the time I had approached the parlour, there were nowhere to be seen. Either they were finished, or I had completely missed them. Sigh.

Highlights were chatting briefly to Ellen (who took a quick snapshot of me), Helena Christensen quietly chilling in one of the hotel bar rooms (unfortunately, I wasn’t able to muster up the courage to say hi… neither when I saw her backstage after the show… sigh), and Denise Van Outen briefly asking me how lovely I thought the show was before taking an Uber back. Likewise, seeing Jodie Kidd and Denise Lewis doing the same.

For a second, it was as if I had been transported back into ’90s British celebrity culture. For a second.
